Updated: November 2009. Well, the car is going, going, gone! We happily, and sadly, sold Project Rusty in July to a young man who will keep the project going! This is likely the last update for this site, but I've started re-doing my '66 coupe daily driver (which has been off the road for years). So follow the links at the bottom of this page to that site...

Project Rusty at the 45th Mustang Anniversary show in Birmingham in April 2009.

Project Rusty was a long, 9 year rustoration of an extremely rusty 1965 Mustang fastback v-8.

ALL THE WORK ON THIS CAR WAS PERFORMED BY ME, IN MY GARAGE (INCLUDING THE PAINT). I'm not a "professional" restorer by any means, but after working on '65-'66 Mustangs for the past 20 years, I'm not an amateur either!

History of the Project Rusty:

Decent looking from a distance, but full of rust, rust, rust!

I bought Rusty back in the summer of 2000 from a friend of mine that purchased the car for parts. He didn't think that the car was worth restoring, and maybe he was right, but I like a challenge! I purchased just the rusted shell of this '65 fastback. Literally, I received just the shell and suspension with no glass, interior, or drive train! Since that time, I've started the rustoration of Rusty and have begun to acquire the parts to put her back together.

Follow the page links in the upper left corner of this page to learn more about some of the major restoration projects done on this car.
