Units built on special order, domestic or foreign, have the complete order number in this space. This new Distric Code 
table take place in january 1966. The reason for the change was a reorganisation of the us districs and addition Canada 
received its own districs (B1-B7). To check DSO's prior the first of january please check back the 65 table.

The consecutive number is part of the VIN which you found on you data plate and/or at your lh inner fender. It's a six digit number and placed behind the Engine-Code. It start's with 100001 at Dearborn at the 5th of march, 1964 and at the 13th of july at San Jose. The VIN is the fist indication to look for, if you found a car without data plate and you are not sure if it's a 64½. The last known production number for Dearborn is "220317" and for San Jose "104363". You have also to check the engine code, which is placed before the number. It should be U,F,D or K without any exeptions. If you found a "K" additional checking is neccessary. Don't forget to take a look at the "64½ List of Differences". It's the one of the largest compilations concerning Diff's between the production years 64 and 65 including pictures of the important one's. 65 Consecutive Number

The consecutive number is the six digit number which you found on you data plate and/or at your lh inner fender. Because this was a continuation of the 64 the numbering began with 250001 at dearborn on the 1st of August, 1964. The San Jose units began at 125001 at the same date. New in producing mustang was the factory in Metuchem, which started a bit later at the 1st of february 1965 with the consecutive number 130001. Don't wonder that you don't find 65 cars starting with a 5 or 6 on their consecutive number, because this area was blocked by another FoMoCo division.
